EVERYONE HAS A SECRET
Part 2
"Oh my God! How i wish I could become like this guy.", Dan said to his friend Andy. "How can one person be just this spotless, handsome, intelligent with foresight too. His life is just too good for me. Imagine still he has money…" He continued.
Andy was not really that interested in the conversation. He was more focused on his unsolved term paper which they were to submit the next day. For Dan, he need not bother about that. As one of the campaign team of Samuel, his would be done for him, free of charge.
"Hope you know all tha glitters is not gold huh?" Andy chipped in. He was a little attentive to hear what Dan was saying.
He dropped his pen, sat back on the desk, with his eyes now fixed on Dan. He looked at Dan with that kind of pity look. He seemed lost in thought, maybe thinking about Samuel but then, he seemed not to be so crazy with this Samuel Samuel trends that Dan can't stop talking about.
It has actually grown from just ordinary admiration to obsession. Dan, kind of, meditates every morning asking God to make him become like Samuel. I want to point out here that Dan is from a middle class family. He lacked nothing rather, he had enough for his up-keep. I guess that is how Samuel is too but, none can decipher Samuel's source of sudden wealth. He spends money as if he plants a tree of wealth. In fact, his expensive life-style has increased more now that he is vying for a political position.
A Week before,
"Good day sir," samuel greeted Dr. Ucheani. That Was his departmental lecturer that also admired his intellectual prowess though he never showed it. Ucheani was very influential in his department and not only that, he has an upper wing in the faculty since the dean there was his closest ally. It is even said that nobody could get anything from the faculty without first going through Dr. Ucheani.
"Oh my boy, how are you doing? I am fine sir" Samuel said extending his hands to have a handshake with the lecturer who had already extended his. Dr. Ucheani's hand seemed stiff-a bit thick and rough. Well, some said it's a proof of masculinity, that it showed that the man was hardworking, I can't say for sure whether it's true.
"Have a seat please," requested Dr. "What brought you to my office my boy?" He asked Samuel, taken a relaxed posture. He also removed his glass that hung like an old woman's wrapper, not at your usual spot for eye-glasses, this one was always hanging on his big nose that made him resemble one of those old professors you would watch in movies.
"I am fine sir, I was told you wanted to see me sir", Samuel said as he sat down, though not feeling comfortable. No one actually does except maybe Dr. Ucheani's friends. Students feared Dr. More than anything. In that same office, many had gone, crying for failing his course. It was said that if you really want to graduate, never have any face-off with Dr. Ucheani. The worst was that he was hardly bought over, he was as strict as hell. It was always advised to do his biddens and go with your scores as he is able to frustrate your life if you enter his blacklist. He was also one of the key-players of the school politics. He had an edge and, for years, have been among those that had a say in that faculty.
"Oh, I remember, Yes I called you. Emm, I was told you have interest for the position of the Faculty president, is that right?" Dr. Said after readjusting his glass. "Yes sir, I wish to serve my coursemates and bring good tidings to our honorable faculty sir." Samuel replied.
"Haha hahaha hahaha…" Dr. Laughed out after some moments of mischievous smiles. "Oh wow, that's so thoughtful of you. Okay, I have scrutinized you from my own end and i think you have the ability but I am just skeptical if you are ready to do what it takes" said. Sam was freezed, and a bit confused with what Dr. was saying. He didn't really understand what he was trying to drive at.
