"Don't worry, when the time comes, you will understand. But for now, just calm down and learn okay". Samuel told Dan, "things are done differently here unlike other places" he continued while they strolled that evening.


Samuel was staying at Behind Flat whereas Dan was in the boys hostel. This made the two always walking back home after each day's class. Dan would leave earlier, immediately after lectures, pretending to be using the school wifi at ICT while waiting for him. Of recent, their friendship had grown even stronger.


The departmental election followed immediately after the faculty's. For the first years, there were two slot positions for them, the ASG and the DOI. Most often, freshers run from those positions because they were yet to know where they were standing in school. However, for this year, it seemed the position was going to be very competitive. Many people came out for it.


"Have you thought of contesting for any of the vacant slots in this incoming departmental election since you wish to enter politics?" Samuel had asked Dan in one of the evenings that they were walking home together. It was close to the stadium when the both students were about to part ways.


"I have actually thought of it but i don't think i can do it now, i have a very strong oppositions from my class who are even far more popular than i am" Dan told him. 


"That's not supposed to be an excuse, if you wish to contest, i can help you to win. But you as a president is expected to be neutral, how do you want to help me? It's not on you to ask me, you will just have to be convinced that you wish to go for it then leave the rest for me" Samuel told him.


Dan was very elated. At least, that thought has been on his mind but after thinking of the caliber of people he would compete against, his spirit dropped. However, that desire seemed to have been revived and even illuminated more.


Samuel promised  to take him somewhere to see someone after which he would now go and buy the form.
